Today I’m breaking the fourth wall! Stepping out from behind the blog to talk all things beauty products. Hi bijou clients old and new – I’m Tammy, bijou’s beauty blogger. I am a level-3 qualified beauty therapist and I worked at bijou for 3 years. It may have been a while since I donned the purple tunic and trousers, but I still have a passion for beauty and a constant love for bijou. When you work in the industry, you’re exposed to so many different beauty brands, and at bijou I loved that we aligned ourselves with some of the best professional products out there, who shared the same values of using high quality, cruelty-free products that truly benefitted our clients.

So, over the years I fell in love with A LOT of the products we used. From Dermalogica to HD Brows, the list could go on and I could easily reel off reasons why the products at bijou are brilliant, but I managed to narrow it down to 10 that I still use in my day-to-day life and I’ll reveal why I keep coming back for more.

1. Jessica Phenomen Oil

The ultimate nail care solution. For my dry cuticles it was a bottled miracle and my nails were in their best shape at bijou. Jessica’s Phenomen Oil conditioned my cuticles and made my nails strong and smooth. As a self-confessed nail-biter (I know – slap on the wrist or what!) it moisturised the hard skin around my nails and made them grow again. And it smells so good!

2. HD Brows Tint Lock Serum

A new one I’ve been introduced to since recently having the Brow Sculpt treatment – and wow, what a game changer! I’ve always loved the fluffed up fuller look and being naturally fair haired with very little to work with, this treatment has been on my to-do list for a while. The Tint Lock Serum is now my brows’ best friend. I use it every morning as part of my routine as it retains the tint and keeps my brows looking fuller for longer. Highly recommend trying out the latest treatment in bijou’s collection.

3. Dermalogica Multi-active Toner

This one’s an oldy but a goody. The toner to top all toners. A light spritz is all you need to stay hydrated and fresh throughout the day. I have a combination skin, a little oily here, a little dry and sensitive there, so this covers all the basis and isn’t astringent (the type that makes your skin feel tight and tingly).

4. Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Booster

I’ll say it again. Game. Changer. I mentioned my oily skin earlier – this is primarily my T-zone. My forehead was comedones central (that’s blackheads in beauty terms). My skin was bumpy and I couldn’t bear it. This stuff almost transformed it overnight. During lockdown, I ran out of the stuff and they started to reappear again. I ran my fingers across my forehead and said, “I have to get my Breakout Clearing Booster”. Guess what? Disappeared straight away.

5. Jessica Hand and Nail Moisturiser

During a manicure, this is the moisturiser of choice. It smells great and absorbs easily so clients wouldn’t have that greasy excess feeling afterwards. A handy travel-sized bottle now lives in my handbag. Suffering from dry skin (particularly in the winter months) this little beauty kept me moisturised, so my hands didn’t become cracked or itchy. Plus, with the boost in hand-sanitiser use, this quickly became an everyday essential.

6. Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel

My cleanser of choice. It’s simple and does the job. I have young skin that needs fairly minimal work – too much and it starts to overload and become irritated. The Special Cleansing Gel teamed with the Daily Microfoliant leaves my skin feeling fresh and revived after a full day’s make up. I enjoy nothing more than having a good skincare session and then telling my boyfriend to look how much my skin is glowing!

7. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

As I mentioned, teaming this product with the Special Cleansing Gel are the first steps in my skincare routine. I feel so fresh after using the Daily Microfoliant. It’s gentle, but the grainy texture still feels like I’m giving my skin a proper scrub!

8. Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisturiser

My go-to base before I apply any make-up. I use the light version for my pale complexion and it gives my skin a gorgeous glow. So if I’m feeling a no make-up look, I still have a smooth and even skin tone. Plus it contains SPF 20 so I know I have a boost of protection too!

9. HD Brows Eye & Brow Pro Palette

When I say this palette lasts forever – I mean it! The variety of shades are great as the tint gradually fades (as it naturally will do) and it tops up my brows for a fuller look. The brushes from HD Brows are also brilliant and I don’t go anywhere without it.

10. HD Brows Pro Pencil and Sharpener

The ideal alternative to the palette in my eyes. It’s great for a post-treatment top-up, where the tint is at its best and I just need to fill in a few thin lines to create a fuller finish. This is also great for a more natural look that you can build up to whatever style you want to create with your brows!

So, there’s my top 10 beauty products I can’t live without – and they’re all available to purchase from bijou. Of course, there’s an array of products that can suit your individual personality and needs, just speak to a therapist and they’ll advise you on what’s best for you, your skin and your style.
