The beauty industry is advancing faster than ever before. With new technology, anti-ageing and body toning treatments that are non-invasive, practically painless and affordable are growing in popularity. Here’s 5 of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures available:
1. Microcurrent stimulation
In a nutshell, microcurrent stimulation sends tiny electrical impulses (which replicate the body’s natural bio electrical field) to the area being treated. Predominantly, microcurrent technology is used in facials to target fine lines and wrinkles, and to re-educate muscles for a firm and toned appearance. Commonly known as facial toning or non-surgical face lifting, this treatment can provide a lifting effect to facial muscles and contours.
CACI is the world leading provider of microcurrent technology, providing a wide range of treatments including jowl lifting, LED light technology and additional body treatments such as the Electro Cellulite Massager (ECM).
Besides a slight tingling sensation, these treatments are pain-free, and many clients will drift off and relax during the procedure. For maximum benefits, a course of six is recommended, followed by a regular monthly ‘maintenance’ treatment to retain the results.
Although an initial investment, this treatment avoids having to go under the knife, or endure discomfort through injections and dermal fillers. So, before going the invasive route, why not try CACI?
2. Cavitation and Cryo-lipolysis
An interesting combination that not many people may have heard of. Cavitation uses ultrasound technology to break down deposits of fat cells in certain areas of the body. Mostly used for stubborn areas where fat cells are harder to break down through exercise, such as the lower abdomen and thighs. Cavitation provides a non-surgical alternative by over a course of time, breaking down these fatty deposits, allowing them to disperse naturally through your lymphatic system.
Cryo-lipolysis – also known as fat-freezing – is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. The treatment uses cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in stubborn areas of the body. Once the fat cells are frozen, they dissipate through the body’s natural elimination process. These fat cells will not come back, but if you follow a poor diet and exercise routine, new fat cells will inevitably appear.
Although you don’t see the effects of cryo-lipolysis as quickly as you do for cavitation, the benefits will become apparent after 6-8 weeks and you only have one session per area every 6 months.
This treatment defines the contours of your body, providing a slimmer silhouette and a reduced circumference. However, it’s not to be considered a weight-loss treatment, more a tool to use alongside a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise.
At bijou we’ve invested in the latest technology from leading provider 3D Aesthetics to provide the best treatments for body contouring and cellulite reduction for our clients.
3. Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion has been a popular treatment for quite some time now. Cell renewal and natural exfoliation slows down as we begin to age, so technology, such as microdermabrasion, provides a little help. Microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells from the most outer surface layer of our skin, reducing dullness and providing a more youthful glow to the skin.
This abrasion treatment also triggers our skin to produce new collagen and boost tissue repair, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
4. Ultrasonic peel
An alternative to microdermabrasion, which may be too abrasive for some skin types, is the ultrasonic peel. Using a tool that emits electrical currents, the rapid vibration pushes impurities to the surface of the skin, allowing them to be removed during the treatment. This gently cleanses and deeply exfoliates the skin for a smoother complexion and softer skin tone.
5. Chemical peel
Chemical peels have been increasingly popular over the past decade, however, when people think of chemical peels, they think of red, raw and peeling skin with a lot of downtime staying indoors while your skin heals. Although much stronger chemical peels are still available, there’s a range of much gentler chemical peels to try instead.
Dermalogica’s Pro Power Peel provides an in-salon experience that is not only effective, but also relaxing and requires no downtime afterwards. The only thing required is to follow simple aftercare instructions to take care of your skin as the peel works its magic.
Used for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, treating hyperpigmentation and acne-prone skin, this treatment can be customised for any skin type. With results including an even skin tone, brighter complexion and a youthful appearance – a chemical peel doesn’t have to sound so scary.
All of the above treatments are available at bijou. As with any treatment, it’s important to speak to your therapist first, to ensure you are suitable for the treatment. As many of these procedures include advanced technology, you may be contra-indicated (unable to have the treatment) if you have certain conditions.
